Speaking to Norwich City’s official website, Daniel Farke has confirmed that Alex Pritchard and Timm Klose will both miss the start of the Sky Bet Championship campaign after picking up injuries.

The duo were both withdrawn from Norwich’s pre-season tour of Germany after limping out of Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Cambridge United.

Pritchard has damaged ligaments in his ankle, whilst Klose is struggling with a muscular injury.

Revealing the length of time that Klose will be out of action, Farke said: “With Timm, it's a muscle injury and he will be out for at least five weeks.

"After five weeks he can probably return to team training then it will last a few more days before he's fit for a game. We will do without him for the first games of the season.”

The German was left frustrated by the injury Pritchard has picked up, describing it as “not good news,” he continued:

“He will be out for at least six weeks, perhaps a little more time. It's not good news, especially because they were injuries because of fouls in a friendly game.”

The absence of both will be frustrating for Farke, who is embarking on his first year in English football and has been tasked with turning round Norwich’s fortunes after a disappointing 2016/17 campaign saw the Canaries finish eighth.

Pritchard was one of Norwich’s shining lights last season, scoring seven goals across all competitions and adding a further seven assists.

Klose’s absence is equally as frustrating, particularly after the positive impact the defender has had at Carrow Road since his arrival in January 2016.

Norwich begin the 2017/18 campaign on August 5th with a difficult trip to Craven Cottage to face Fulham.
