Leeds United’s Charlie Taylor has reportedly handed in a transfer request, according to a report from Radio Yorkshire.
This comes after the left-back being subject to serious interest from elite Premier League clubs, with Liverpool, Manchester United and Burnley all interested in the young starlet.
Owner Massimo Cellino has previously promised that Leeds would not be selling the 22-year-old, however it is now understood that Taylor is trying to force matters by himself, by handing in a transfer request.
This is a major blow for Garry Monk’s men, who kick off their Championship campaign in just a few days time, on Sunday at Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s QPR.
And after the departure of Championship Young Player of the Year Lewis Cook to AFC Bournemouth, Leeds cannot afford to let another promising youth prospect slip through their net.
After an array of impressive performances last term, Taylor was arguably Leeds’ most consistent player, but the versatile left-back, who still has another year on his contact at Elland Road, is believed to have had unsuccessful talks with the club over a new contract.
So…What do you think Leeds fans? How big of a blow is this? Is Charlie Taylor irreplaceable? Will you be able to sign a replacement in time for Sunday’s fixture? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
