Aston Villa have decided against offering a deal to injury hit midfielder Jordan Lyden.

The 23-year-old Australian has seen his time with the Villans ravaged by injury and he once again got hurt during a loan spell with Oldham.

And now Villa have decided to take a decision on on the future of Lyden, meaning that the midfielder will be free to leave the club in the summer when his deal at Villa Park expires.

Lyden made his debut for Villa back in 2016, when he made sporadic appearances in both the FA Cup and the Premier League, where he was impressive enough for Villa to believe they had a real player on their hands for future years.

However, it's proved not to be for the Aussie, who has suffered injury setbacks galore and has struggled to ever get back to the pace of the game needed to compete at Championship level.

Lyden will be hoping to stay fit over the summer in the hope of landing a move before the beginning of next season.

The Verdict

What a shame. It's always bad news when things like this happen and you can't help but feel for Lyden.

Hopefully he can get a bit of luck and find a new club for next term. If he's injury free, he's a fine midfielder and can do a job for many a club if given the chance.
