Hull City have announced via their official website that midfielder David Meyler has been voted as the club’s player of the month for September.

The Irishman enjoyed a fantastic month in the middle of the park for the Tigers, managing to score twice whilst adding an assist to his tally in what was an excellent all round period for the 28-year-old.

The award comes on the back of what has been an excellent week for Myler, with an excellent display for the Republic of Ireland national team against Wales ensuring that the side from the Emerald Isle qualified for a place in the European World Cup play off places.

If the Irish can emerge from the two-legged affair - against opponents yet to be confirmed - victorious, they will be on their way to Russia next summer to compete in the tournament.

Hull have been very hit and miss this season, and sit in 17th place following the opening eleven rounds of fixtures, but a 6-1 hammering of Birmingham City at the KCOM Stadium before the international break will ensure the squad returns to league action in high spirits.

Hull fans took to Twitter to congratulate the player for his award, and is is clear that Meyler is a popular figure on Humberside at the moment…
