Burnley centre-back Ben Gibson has claimed that the post-promotion pub crawl with his Middlesbrough teammates in 2016 was one of the best days "of all time", which has left many fans of the North East club discussing his potential return to the Riverside.

The 27-year-old is a product of the Boro academy and made more than 200 appearances for the Reds before leaving to join Burnley in a £15 million deal in 2018.

Gibson represented the Teessiders in both the Premier League and the Championship but you'd imagine the successful promotion campaign in 2015/16 will be among his finest memories at the club.

Boro finished second, securing promotion on the final day of the season after finishing above Brighton on goal difference.

Footage has emerged on Twitter of the players' post-promotion pub crawl that year and Gibson has been quick to provide his thoughts, claiming it was one of the best days of all time.

The defender has found life difficult at Turf Moor, making just six appearances in the 20 months since he made the switch.

Gibson was linked with Boro in January and it appears large swathes of the Riverside faithful are keen for him to return, with many fans taking to Twitter to discuss that following his claim on Twitter.
