Bristol City have been dealt a major blow in the January transfer window as Eddie Nketiah is set to remain at Premier League side Arsenal for the rest of the campaign.
The forward was on loan at Leeds for the first-half of the campaign, but due to Marcelo Bielsa not giving him enough game time, the Gunners decided to call him back to the club.
It looked as though he was set to go on loan to another Championship side but a turnaround in thinking from new Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta means that he will stay at the Premier League side for the rest of the season:

It’s a particularly big blow for the Robins who are in desperate need of a new striker with Rodri’s short-term deal ending, and Benik Afobe not expected to recover before the end of the campaign.
Here’s how Bristol City fans reacted to the news…

Thank god we can stop talking about him now. Would’ve been a great signing but if he and Arteta thinks he will improve more rotting in the reserves then we can easily look elsewhere. #BristolCity https://t.co/8Z3IXEn6aE

Despite the 43rd setback in the last 2 weeks, there is supposedly an abundance of strikers available this window:
Surely 1 of these? #BristolCity

Why does this happen every window? Every single season we are desperate for a specific striker and we never get them. It’s just not good enough.

Feels very disappointing, but not the end of the world.
Lost out on Nketiah in summer with about 24 hours to go until the deadline – ended up bringing in Afobe who was a better player IMO

Oh behave, they haven’t a clue what they’re doing, back to square one. I have little faith in landing any ‘apparent’ targets if they’re in the hands of Mark Ashton & Lee Johnson.
