Nottingham Forest are still picking up the pieces of their season after their play-off dream blew up in their face on Wednesday evening.

Sabri Lamouchi’s men looked nailed on for a top-six finish in the Championship this season, but a defeat to Stoke City on Wednesday, combined with Swansea City’s heavy win at Reading, resulted in Forest dropping to seventh and missing out on goal difference.

Naturally, the finger has been pointed at Lamouchi after a dramatic collapse, but John Percy at the Telegraph has offered an update, insisting that no rash decisions are going to be made and ‘wider’ factors like player mentality and recruitment will be looked at alongside the manager.

Quiz: Have each of these 15 Nottingham Forest players scored a league goal this season? – Can you get 15/15?

Percy wrote: “Nottingham Forest to take their time deciding what happens next, after the implosion. Would have settled for 7th in June when it was "Sabri Who?" season before lockdown v good. But 10 points from 9 games inexcusable in that position & clearly wider issues than Lamouchi. Not a time to panic.”

Given Forest’s trigger happy attitude to managers in recent seasons, many fans are happy to see the club taking their time over a decision, but the debate rages on as to what needs to happen next.

For some, Forest need to look at recruitment and back Lamouchi in the transfer window, whilst others are talking up the need for the manager to alter his style of play…
