Leeds United’s slide down the Sky Bet Championship table over the last month has highlighted just how quickly things can change in the most unpredictable division, with Thomas Christiansen now under huge pressure at Elland Road, with his side picking up just two victories in their last eight league fixtures.

Christiansen takes his side to Brentford on Saturday evening, with Leeds desperately needing a positive result, following back-to-back defeats against Sheffield United and Derby County in the last week. Leeds will be able to draw confidence from the fact they won their last Championship away fixture – a 3-0 triumph against Bristol City.

Here at FLW, we look at the starting XI Christiansen might opt for against Brentford, with it our belief he must turn to a similar system used at Bristol City.

Andy Lonergan will expect to continue in goal, whilst just two of Leeds’ back-four from Tuesday night retain their place in the starting XI – Pontus Jansson and Stuart Dallas – after the latter filled in excellently at left-back. Luke Ayling is out of form and should be replaced by Gaetano Berardi, whilst Liam Cooper should return in place of Matthew Pennington.

The midfield battle will be key at Brentford, and we are expecting to see Christiansen flood that particular area, with Kalvin Phillips, Eunan O’Kane and Ronaldo Vieira all featuring. That trio should allow Samuel Saiz and Ezgjan Alioski some freedom to support Pierre-Michel Lasogga.
