Middlesbrough are one team going from strength-to-strength in the Sky Bet Championship right now, with Tony Pulis’ side in pole position in the race for sixth.

A difficult first-half of the season looked like leaving Boro short in their quest for the top-six, however, a string of impressive results recently has put Pulis’ side right back in contention.

The Teessiders have won four of their last five fixtures, which has helped to propel them into sixth, with just nine fixtures of the season remaining.

Pulis’ side hold a two-point lead over seventh, but are firmly looking up the table ahead of Saturday’s clash with Brentford at Griffin Park.

Last time out, Boro were comfortable winners against Barnsley at the Riverside Stadium, but Pulis might struggle to name an unchanged side, with this morning’s injury update a cause for concern.

Here at FLW, we take a look at the starting XI Pulis could select tomorrow…

Randolph has been a regular so far this season for Boro, and Pulis is unlikely to make any unforced change in the goalkeeping department between now and the end of the season.

Shotton has featured at right-back for Boro during their impressive run of form and should continue.

Daniel Ayala looks like missing out at Griffin Park tomorrow, which opens the door for Dael Fry to come into the defence.

Gibson carried the armband last week and captained Boro to victory.

Pulis will be looking for another big effort from the local defender.

Friend has brought some consistency to his game in recent weeks and should retain his place on the left.

Howson has been good for Boro recently, with his energy in midfield particularly impressive.

Although Adam Clayton has done well, it is hard for Pulis to leave out his captain.

Leadbitter is key for Boro and the midfielder should return.

Besic has made a strong start to his Boro career, with the on-loan Everton man working well in the three-man midfield.

Traore is Boro’s key man going forward, and if Pulis’ side are to take anything away from Brentford this weekend, they will need the winger at his best.

For all Traore’s threat, it has been Bamford putting the chances away, with the striker in fine form.

Downing has brought incredible balance to Middlesbrough’s attack in recent weeks, offering something different to Traore and Bamford.

The former England winger is always reliable away from home.
