Middlesbrough have already made a few impressive moves in the transfer window but Tony Pulis will still want more players in as he prepares for a promotion push.

One area the former West Brom will be keen to improve is up front and there could be a lot of activity in the coming weeks.

Firstly, Boro could look to move on Britt Assombalonga. The big-money signing from 12 months ago didn't establish himself as a regular under Pulis and hasn't had the impact many hoped for on Teesside.

Given his reputation, he could fetch a big fee and it may suit all parties as Assombalonga won't be happy as a squad player.

Here we look at three potential replacements for the 25-year old...

The Burnley striker is thought to be a target for Boro and it would make sense as he has scored goals and won promotion in the Championship.

As well as that, Pulis' sides are direct and he would certainly add a lot with his aerial strength.

Villa's financial situation means they have to sell players and Kodjia could be available at a decent price.

Again, he has the physicality and strength that Pulis would want from a striker and is another who has proven himself at this level.

A different, but ambitious signing, would be Newcastle's Gayle. He may take convincing to drop back down to the Championship however guarantees goals.

With real pace, good movement and a coolness in front of goal, he could be the 20+ goals a season man to fire Boro to the Premier League.
