Under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds United are flying in the Sky Bet Championship and look likely to launch another promotion push this season.

Leeds are playing an great brand of football with a settled side, which includes the likes of Kalvin Phillips alongside internationals, Mateusz Klich and Ezgjan Alioski.

In addition to that there's the skill of Pablo Hernandez, a former Spanish international, whilst loan talents like Ben White and Eddie Nketiah are a joy to watch.

However, it hasn't been like that since Leeds dropped out of the Premier League in 2004, with a huge player turnover.

With that in mind, we take a look at the worst Leeds XI from the last 15 years...

Leeds have had some poor goalkeepers over the years, but Paul Rachubka stands out like no other.

Playing under Simon Grayson for the Whites, Rachubka was a No.2 thrown in the deep end due to an Andy Lonergan injury.

However, that led to howler after howler, which was rounded off by an outing against Blackpool that saw him axed at half-time.

The full back was never loved, nor did he impress the Leeds United fans during his time with the club in 2008.

He was signed on an initial loan spell, before joining permanently from Leicester City, but was ultimately released at the end of his first season after just over a dozen appearances.

There might've been worse defenders at Leeds, but this guy was hated by the fans.

Controversy followed him around and he even had altercations with fans in the pre-season before he left.

Awful performances matched an awful attitude.

The French defender managed only a single game for Leeds, and was then to never be seen again at the club.

Signed in 2008/09, Assoumani was offered a deal following a trial. However, after his one and only appearance, he was released only a few months later, and joined non-league Wrexham.

Oh dear. This is what a lot of Leeds fans will say when they hear the name Tony Capaldi.

A short term loan signing from Cardiff in the 09/10 season, Capaldi would play only a handful of games for Leeds. He would be dropped for the game with Kettering, which ultimately summed up his time with the club.

No Leeds worst XI would be complete without the inclusion of former Luton Town man Nicholls.

His time at Leeds was turbulent to say the least, and his constant fallings out with management, lack of performance, and overall attitude, has left him a very much disliked figure at Elland Road.

Not much to say about the Finnish man really. However, after signing an 18 month contract with Leeds, he failed to make a single appearance at Elland Road in 2008.

He would move on to Hamilton, before returning to his homeland where he has gone on to forge a decent career in the Finnish league.

The Danish midfielder is one of the more recent additions on this team, and he endured a miserable time with the club between 2014 and 2016.

Sloth would only make around a dozen appearances for the club.

The Portuguese midfielder was another poor signing for the club, and following the signing of a one-year deal, made less than 10 appearances for the Elland Road club.

Injuries arguably robbed him in all fairness, but he was also sent off in one of his rare appearances, meaning he makes this team ahead of some other considerably poor midfielders.

The striker was signed as an emergency loan with the thought he would bang the goals in to seal promotion for the club back in 2009.

However, he would fail to score in his time with the club, and Leeds ultimately fell short.

He has since spent the last few years plying his trade in the non-league, which just about sums up the quality he possessed.

Although there were plenty of options available for the striking positions, Paynter just edges it.

He scored only three goals for the club during his time at Elland Road between 2010 and 2012, and is often spoken about in a poor light by Leeds fans.

Paynter was often clumsy in his play, and poor in front of goal, and he will certainly not be remembered in any rave reviews by Leeds fans.
