Reading exited the Carabao Cup on Wednesday evening, as they were beaten by Wolves on penalties in a closely-fought battle in the Third Round.

Wolves took the lead in the first-half as Bruno Jordao's tame effort somehow beat Everton loanee Joao Virginia in the Reading goal.

But the Premier League side couldn't build on that in the second-half, and Reading snatched a dramatic equaliser in the ninth minute of injury-time to take the game to penalties.

Virginia was unable to redeem himself in the shoot-out, and with John Swift and Lucas Boye missing their penalties, Jose Gomes' side left empty handed.

This isn't the first time that the Everton youngster has made a costly error in his loan spell with the Berkshire-based club, and he has recently lost his place as first-choice goalkeeper to Rafael.

Plenty of Reading fans weren't pleased with Virginia's performance on the night.
