‘Awful’, ‘Pathetic’ – Plenty of Lincoln City fans are furious after heavy defeat in Appleton’s first game

Newly-appointed Lincoln City boss Michael Appleton couldn’t have asked for a worse start to life in charge of the Imps.

Lincoln were thrashed 6-0 by Oxford United at Sincil Bank, in a game that they will be keen to put behind them at the earliest of opportunities.

A Tarique Fosu-Henry hat-trick whilst goals from Jamie Mackie, James Henry and Matty Taylor saw the visitors run out convincing winners.

There had been high-hopes from Lincoln supporters heading into the 2019/20 season under Danny Cowley’s guidance, but their former manager departed to join Huddersfield Town in the Championship earlier this month.

Michael Appleton took over as their manager, and will be hoping that he can put an end to their five game winless run in all competitions as soon as possible to avoid an immediate return back into League Two.

Plenty of Lincoln City supporters took to Twitter to voice their disappointment at the heavy defeat.
