Birmingham City were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League One side Portsmouth last night and the result has drawn angry responses from many Blues fans.

The Championship club suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat at Fratton Park, with Ellis Harrison scoring a brace and Ben Close finding the net with a classy volley.

Pep Clotet lined up an inexperienced side for the second-round clash, with six players making their club debuts, including Jude Bellingham, who became the Club’s youngest ever player at just 16 years and 38 days old.

Summer signings Jake Clarke-Salter and Agustin Medina also made their first appearances for the Birmingham club.

Clotet’s side kicked off their Championship campaign with a win on Saturday, beating Brentford 1-0 at Griffin Park through a Kristian Pedersen header.

It has been a turbulent summer for the Blues, with manager Garry Monk, winger Jota and star striker Che Adams all leaving the club.

This early season embarrassment at the hands of a lower division side has not gone down well with large sections of the St Andrew’s faithful, with many taking to Twitter to vent their frustration and complain about the lack of respect shown to fans.
