Derby County are once again in the hunt for promotion this season but you will understand if the supporters aren't getting too carried away just yet.

That's because their recent history shows they always seem to make it tough for themselves and ultimately they fail to deliver when needed.

Big money has been ploughed into the side in that time, with several high-profile additions made over the years in order to push the club over the line.

And, for our latest FLW Rewind, we look at the reaction to someone who joined for a club-record fee at the time - midfielder Bradley Johnson, who signed from Norwich City for £6m.

As you can see, there was a real buzz about Johnson's arrival and he was seen as a real statement signing for the club as they looked to win promotion under Paul Clement.

He arrived from Premier League Norwich and he had been pivotal in the Canaries promotion-winning season the year before.

The ex-Leeds man scored 15 goals from midfield and his overall performances were crucial in the Championship so it was a coup for the Rams at the time.

But, it's fair to say he hasn't been able to replicate that form at Pride Park since arriving.

This is Johnson's fourth season at the club and he has only managed 12 goals in that period, which says a lot.

Of course, he isn't all about scoring goals but his overall contribution has been questioned too, with a lack of discipline a problem at times too.

The 31-year-old will have signed a big contract given his status as the record-signing and Derby have not got anywhere near value for money for the player and it's hard to see him having a future beyond this season.
