James Shea has been handed a starting spot in goal for Luton Town in four of the club's last five games, with the 30-year-old seemingly operating as the club's number one at present. 

Shea has had to play a deputy role over the last two and a half years, with the Hatters' record signing Simon Sluga a regular selection. 

However, Shea has registered three clean sheets in his four games in goal in recent weeks, with the only goal he has conceded being a tap in from Aleksandar Mitrovic. 

Much of his time at Luton whilst in the Championship has been about capitalising when Sluga is unavailable, and he has certainly taken those opportunities when they have been presented with him. 

It will be an intriguing battle for a starting spot in goal as the season progresses, with Sluga's contract at Kenilworth Road ticking down. 

Shea has been a reliable second-option for the last 30 months, but he will be viewing these recent weeks as an excellent opportunity to pave his way for more regular football.
