Sunderland have recently announced that George Honeyman has left the club to join Hull City on a three-year deal.

It brings an end to a lengthy association with the club for the midfielder, who first joined the Black Cats when he was ten-years old.

The 24-year-old captained Sunderland last season, but was left disappointed as they missed out on promotion to the Championship after a defeat to Charlton Athletic in the League One play-off final.

In an interview with Sunderland's official website, Honeyman revealed that he will continue to follow the club, despite moving to Hull.

"Sunderland will always be my club, and I will continue to follow it as a supporter for the rest of my life."

The Black Cats get their new season underway without the midfielder this weekend when they take on Oxford United.

Plenty of Sunderland fans took to social media to react to Honeyman's departure.
