It’s fair to say that has been a rather mixed season for Sheffield Wednesday, as the remainder of the 2019/20 EFL campaign remains in limbo.

The Owls endured a rollercoaster of a summer, seeing manager Steve Bruce only a few weeks before the start of the season and seeing Lee Bullen take charge for the first month of the campaign.

Garry Monk was soon announced as Bruce’s permanent successor, with the former Birmingham and Leeds boss losing only one of his first eight games in charge of the Yorkshire club.

But it has been a nightmare 2020 for Wednesday thus far, with the Owls picking up only two wins and losing seven times in the Championship.

One player who has been at the heart of Wednesday’s highs and lows this season is Julian Borner, who arrived at Hillsborough from Arminia Bielefeld in the summer.

The German defender has since been a key player under Monk, making 33 appearances across all competitions and chipping in with one goal in his debut season in Yorkshire.
