Australian midfielder Ryan Edwards is set to be released from Reading after being told by the club that he won’t be awarded a new contract, according to the Tilehurst End.
The Australian Under-23 International, has been told that his future lies elsewhere.
He is set to become the first casualty ahead of Reading’s expected summer releases – an overhaul is expected at the Berkshire club this summer with Steve Clarke set to make his mark on the squad.
In the 2013-14, the 21-year-old spent a season on loan with the A-league side Perth Glory.
After the completion of the loan, he returned to England last year and was invited for the pre-season by former manager Nigel Adkins.
The attacking midfielder was the stand out performer in games before the Championship season started, and looked on course to become a key figure for the club.
He made his bow in a match against Wigan and subsequently went on to appear in 10 matches before falling down in pecking order, his last appearance at the club came against Brentford, where Reading lost 3-1.
The attacking midfielder never featured under Steve Clarke. His current deal expires in just a couple of months time.
