In an interview with the Lancashire Post, Preston North End midfielder Alan Browne discussed the new style of play which new manager Alex Neil has implemented since his arrival.

Alex Neil took charge of his new side's training sessions this week in a pre-season camp based in Ireland and he has quickly put across his ideas.

According to Alan Browne, Neil has already got his side playing much more attacking football which is a different mentality to the side under Simon Grayson who would focus more on defensive stability and then counter when the opportunity rises.

Speaking to the LEP he said: "He wants us to be the attacking team, he wants us to take a game by the scruff of the neck, take a few risks – he wants us to score goals from anywhere."

“We’ve been working on our passing and movement from the midfielders to the forwards, even getting the defenders up to support the midfield.

This attacking mentality, whilst risky, could work wonders in this Preston side who have players with pace to burn including the likes of Tom Barkhuizen and Daryl Horgan.

But all the focus cannot be shifted to the final third due to the risk of leaking goals at the back.
