Derby County fell to another disappointing defeat on the road on Wednesday night, losing 2-0 to high-flying Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

The Rams picked up their first away league win in over six months at the weekend, defeating Swansea City by three goals to two at the Liberty Stadium.

On Wednesday evening, Phillip Cocu would have been urging his side to replicate that performance and build on a vital win in South Wales, but it wasn't to be.

Bristol City punished Derby for sloppy, calamitous defending, scoring twice in quick succession before half-time thanks to goals from Nahki Wells and Filip Benkovic.

Famara Diedhiou made it 3-0 on the hour mark to put the game beyond Derby, however they did fight back and did make it 3-2 when Martyn Waghorn and Chris Martin fired for the Rams.

All three of Bristol City's goals came from crosses, and Derby's inability to clear even the simplest of deliveries and organise their defence was clear to see.

One player who struggled at centre-half was Andre Wisdom - once again, the natural full-back started in the heart of the defence, but his positioning and organisation was all over the place as City pounced.
