Bristol City were beaten 3-2 by high-flying Brentford last night but many Robins fans have been raving about the performance of midfielder Han-Noah Massengo.

The 19-year-old has fought himself back into contention since December and with competition for places likely to increase over the next few weeks, due to the arrival of Henri Lansbury and the return of injured players, it was important he impressed in his first start in 2021 last night.

Massengo did just that and was City's standout player as they went toe-to-toe with Thomas Frank's side and were even on top in stages.

His ability and agility on the ball have never been questioned but at times his passing has been poor and he's struggled with the physical side of the game – that was not the case against the Bees.

Goals from Zak Vyner and Sergi Canos meant the ball was well set at the break, but Brentford's quality shone through in the second half as Ivan Toney and Saman Ghoddos put them in the driving seat before Nahki Wells' late consolation goal.

Who has done more of these 15 things out of Bristol City and Bristol Rovers?

There were positives for Dean Holden's side and Massengo's performance was certainly one of them, with the teenager showing exactly why the Robins spent big to bring him to the club in the summer of 2019.

He certainly appears to have impressed the Ashton Gate faithful, with many taking to Twitter to rave about the Frenchman's display.
