Reading manager Jose Gomes may have to enjoy having striker George Puscas within his ranks this season with Fenerbache keen on making a move for the 23-year-old Romanian next summer, as reported on Turkish media outlet Ajansspor.
Puscas has made a solid start to life at the Madejski Stadium with three goals in seven appearances in all competitions, since signing a five-year-deal in the summer.
So in reality how long do you think Puscas will remain at Reading?
“At least this season.
“Bringing in the Romanian was a real coup and most Royals fans knew if he produced and they failed to get promotion, it would be hard to keep him.
“In truth, that’s the case with the majority of players in the Championship.
“There has been talk of a January bid previously but there’s no way they will sell then. However, it would be naive to think he won’t be off in the summer unless the club start showing signs that they can win promotion in the next few years.
“He will have ambitions of playing in a top division and Fenerbahce could potentially offer European football.”
“I think it really depends on how the Royals perform as a whole this season.
“You imagine that Puscas will have been tempted to move to the Madejski Stadium in the summer, at least partly because of the opportunity that it could give him to play in the Premier League at some point further down the line in his career.
“If Reading shows signs this season that they can be the club who are capable of giving him that opportunity, then I think he would be willing to stick around for some time yet.
“However, if that does not look to be the case, then the chance to compete for silverware, and in European football with Fenerbahce, is one that could well tempt Puscas to move on at the when that interest materialises.
“Given the way Reading have started the campaign, I do think they may need a bit more than what they have currently shown if they are to convince the striker to remain beyond the end of the season.”
“I think realistically, if he can maintain his form consistently over the course of the season, they will find it very hard to keep him after the end of the current campaign.
“He presents a brilliant option for a lot of sides across Europe, particularly given his age, there is a lot of potential there.
“Personally I think he has all the qualities to succeed at the highest level, with his size and quick feet being good qualities that the top sides will admire.
“To summarise, I think if a substantial bid comes Reading’s way at the end of the season, they will be more than willing to cash in.”
