Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has shared an emotional message with his fans on Instagram after he scored the winner in their 1-0 derby win against Birmingham City.

Harry Redknapp took charge of relegation threatened Birmingham City for the first time as they took a short trip across Birmingham to play Aston Villa at Villa Park.

The game was decided by long serving Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor, who reacted quickest to a loose ball in the area after a goalmouth scramble.

Agbonlahor shared his thoughts with fans on Instagram after the game, talking about how tough the past few years have been for him.

Gabby Agbonlahor said:

"The whole team knew how much this game meant to Aston Villa fans and we got the win for you all.

"On a personal note is been a bad few years for me on the pitch but I'm only looking forward now to many more more games for this great club."

The 30-year-old broke a longstanding goal drought with the winner in the Second City derby and that was not his first strike against Birmingham.

Accompanied with his emotional message, he posted a video compilation of all his goals against the Blues.

At the end of his message, he added:

"Sunday was my favourite goal in all my derby games."
