Coventry City midfielder Callum O'Hare has suggested that he has been frustrated with his lack of recent minutes in League One, but has also revealed his ambitions to stay with the Sky Blues and help them earn promotion this term.

O'Hare arrived at Coventry in the summer on a season-long loan from Premier League Aston Villa, and the 21-year-old has been a key part of Mark Robins' squad during the first few months of the season, making 14 appearances in League One and contributing two goals from midfield.

However, the recent form of the likes of Liam Walsh, Zain Westbrooke and Jordan Shipley has seen O'Hare have to settle for a place on the bench over the last few weeks, although he has contributed to the Sky Blues' recent six match unbeaten run in the league from the bench.

Can you name Coventry City's last 15 managers?

Speaking to the media ahead of Coventry's meeting with Ipswich Town in the FA Cup second round on Sunday, O'Hare suggested that he has been frustrated with having to sit on the bench in the last few weeks, but that he is happy at the club and wanting help the Sky Blues earn promotion, saying: "It's a bit frustrating I wasn't starting but I've had a little injury, and I've just had to be patient and wait to come on.

"I want to achieve promotion here and help the club get into the Championship and play as well as I can."

The Verdict

These comments from O'Hare suggest that he is wanting to remain at the club in January despite not being selected in Robins' starting line-up over the last few weeks, which means that the Sky Blues should be able to prevent Aston Villa from recalling him from his loan spell in the winter window.

O'Hare offers a valuable option for Robins and is providing excellent back up at the moment to the trio of Shipley, Westbrooke and Walsh - and he has shown with his performances so far this term that he would be more than able to step into the starting line-up in the event of injuries to those three, but he will be hoping to earn a start ahead of one of those in the next few weeks.

Sunday's FA Cup clash against Ipswich represents a chance for O'Hare to stake a claim for a starting place in the league, with Robins likely to rest a few of his first team players for the match ahead of the congested festive period of fixtures - and the 21-year-old will need to take his chance if he is to earn more regular minutes.
