Aston Villa make the short trip to local rivals Birmingham City on Sunday, in one of the most eagerly anticipated games between the two sides in recent years.

Both sides are within touching distance of the play-off positions and will be hoping they can pick up a potentially season-defining win on the day.

One man who will be hoping that he can earn a start for this one is Andre Green, who has looked bright since being recalled from his loan spell from League One side, Portsmouth.

Green took to Instagram to highlight the importance of taking an all-important three points away from their bitter rivals at St Andrews this weekend.

Green hasn't featured as much as he would have liked to since being recalled from his loan spell earlier this year.

But he has shown glimpses of his quality, and netted the equaliser in a stunning comeback against Sheffield United which could prove to be a vital point for Dean Smith's side.

If Green can be given the chance, supporters will be hoping that he can grasp that with both hands and give Dean Smith a selection headache for the remainder of this year's campaign.

It's going to be a potentially tricky fixture for Green and his Villa team-mates against a Birmingham side that have top six ambitions of their own this season.

But if they want to force themselves into promotion contention, Villa need to be coming away from this one with three points against their rivals.

The Verdict:

He needs to make up for lost time.

Green has impressed me in the small number of appearances he has made, and he's been unlucky not to have been handed more starts for Villa.

His pace and trickery could certainly cause Birmingham a considerable amount of problems this weekend.
