Aston Villa's summer has been far from perfect so far and it's safe to say that they are going to have to go some to sign players that actually improve the squad.
Hamstrung by finances, it's hard to see exactly where they are going to find players that will come into the first-team and become regular starters - unless they can raid the loan market.
Player sales, meanwhile, may have to be on the agenda and it appears as though the club is willing to actually take another financial hit and register a loss by getting rid of Ross McCormack at all costs.
The forward signed for big-money a couple of years ago as Villa looked to bounce back from relegation but things have gone south for him and, according to the Birmingham Mail, Villa want him gone this window.
That, then, will involve them failing to recoup much of what they paid for him not so long ago.
The Verdict
Things are proving tough at Villa this season and few are sure exactly who will be back at the club for the opening day of the campaign.
Many of their key men have been linked away whilst the money doesn't seem to be there for good reinforcements.
And, selling McCormack doesn't seem like the sort of deal that will raise much.
