Aston Villa sealed their place at Wembley in the Championship play-off final last night after bettering Middlesbrough over two legs.

A 1-0 win away at The Riverside Stadium was enough to see them through in the end, after they played out a goalless draw at Villa Park in the second leg.

And while Villa fans will be dreaming of a return to the Premier League, they face a tricky test against Fulham in the final.

If Aston Villa do win promotion, they will need to offload their fringe players who are not quite up to standard.

And even if they stay down, the Villains need to generate funds to comply with Financial Fair Play guidelines and generate funds for new arrivals.

Here are three players who Aston Villa must cash in on in the summer transfer window regardless of whether they go up or not.

McCormack has been a major flop for the Villans.

The 31-year-old has a proven track record in the Championship but failed to impress at Villa Park and he was most recently seen out on loan in Australia.

Gollini signed a four-year deal with Aston Villa in summer 2016 but after a string of hapless displays, he was dropped.

The 23-year-old signed an 18-month loan with Atalanta in January 2017 and he should be sold this summer when he returns.

The 30-year-old has really struggled at Aston Villa since joining in summer 2016 and he has just spent a period of time on loan at Reading.

With one year left on his Villa contract, they should cash in on the former Bournemouth man this summer.
