Aston Villa and Cardiff are both built on solid foundations which gives their creative players a base to work from.

This is why these two players are so important because they act as the heart of their respective defences as well as both being captains. Steve Bruce and Neil Warnock have vast experience at this level as well as understanding what is needed to get promoted to the Premier League, so it's no coincidence that both players have played key parts in the promotion campaigns of their sides.

John Terry is the more experienced of the two due to his 22 years at Chelsea with 19 of those years being around the first-team. In that period, he won the Premier League five times as well as the Champions League in 2012 along with other major trophies. This is his first season at Villa and he has helped them into the play-offs with fourth place being where they are likely to finish.

Sean Morrison has age on his side due to being 27-years-old compared to Terry who is 37-years-old, but he lacks the substantial experience. He has worked his way up the divisions from Swindon Town to Reading and then to Cardiff with loan spells along the way. This is his fourth season with the Bluebirds where he has become a key part of the club's squad hierarchy.

Terry's experience in the Premier League will be useful if he decides to extend his contract and they get promoted through the play-offs. In contrast, Morrison has limited experience in the top division from his time with Reading. However, his club are in a much better position due to being in the automatic promotion spots, although that is under threat.

Based on the statistics, Morrison dominates because he contributes more offensively and defensively with pass success percentage being the only area that Terry has been better in. However, Villa are in a better short-term position going into this match because Cardiff are under pressure after one point in two games with Fulham right behind them.

Morrison edges this because he is better in every defensive area and his passing reflects the style of his team, whereas, Terry's experience doesn't make up for the difference of the two and Morrison has longevity as well.
