It’s fair to say that Villa’s season hasn’t been anything to shout about, but under the guidance of Steve Bruce, their aim will certainly be to push for promotion next season.

Villa got off to the worst start possible with life in the Championship, with Roberto di Matteo in charge, as they found themselves significantly struggling during the mid-way point in October.

Since Bruce has taken charge, his experience has been a key factor in their attempt to soar up the table.

However, the damage was done during the first half of the season making it extremely difficult to push for a top six place in the final months of the campaign.

The West Midlands outfit are playing with confidence at the moment, and although they have nothing to play for, they will be looking to build on their momentum for next season.

Villa have been one of the most active Championship clubs in terms of spending this season, but Bruce will still want to make a few changes in the summer transfer window.

Due to the club’s stature, players from the Premier League have been willing to drop down a division to play at Villa Park and I think that will be the same this summer.

Villa will look to explore fringe players for big sides in the top flight such as Chelsea to take on their players that need time on the field.

Ike Ugbo

The young striker is being described as the next up and coming striker to come out of the Chelsea academy.

He has scored 26 goals in 29 appearances this season for the under-18 side, including his recent hat trick against Tottenham Hotspur under-18 in the FA Youth Cup Semi Final in recent weeks.

Ugbo has an unbelievable amount of potential and certainly a season on loan at Villa would develop his career.

Nathaniel Chalobah

The 22-year-old has made just 13 first-team appearances for Chelsea during his career and has spent most of his time at Stamford Bridge on loan.

Chalobah certainly has a future at Stamford Bridge, but he needs more time to develop if he is to be a regular in the first team.

Chalobah spent last season on loan at Italian giants Napoli, which was a real learning curve for him.

A season on loan at Villa, under the guidance of an experienced manager like Steve Bruce, would certainly improve his footballing ability.
