Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack could be set for a shock move to the MLS with Colorado Rapids, according to a report in the Derby Telegraph, via the Birmingham Mail.

The experienced Scottish striker is back at Villa Park following a successful spell in Australia with Melbourne, and was expected to complete a move back down under on a more permanent basis.

However, this report now seems to put that to bed, with the news that the Rapids want to take McCormack over to America as they look themselves to build a squad capable of challenging for titles across the atlantic.

Despite bagging 14 goals during a productive spell in the A-League, current Villa manager Steve Bruce is still not a fan of the former Leeds and Fulham striker after having trouble with McCormack when he initally took the reigns at Villa Park last year.

McCormack would be joining former Wolves midfielder Jack Price in moving to the Rapids if a move was to materialise.

His big money move to Villa has never paid off after he delivered the goods for Fulham, which forced Villa's hand into a £12m move for the forward. However, his time with the Midlands club has been littered with fitness and disciplinary issues, and a move away this summer looks a near certainty.

Villa fans, what do you make of this? Time for everyone to move on? Let us know in the comments!
