Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor is one of numerous players who face a big loss of money due to an investment scam, according to a report in the Sunday People, via the Birmingham Mail.
The long serving Villa man is reportedly one of over 100 players who invested money into a scheme which promised to pay them 20% a month in returns.
The scam was set up by former Wolves man Michael McIndoe and is thought to include former players Jimmy Bullard and Robbie Keane among others.
It is the latest high profile case involving money and greed in football, following the scandal around now sacked England manager Sam Allardyce. McIndoe had promised to deliver healthy returns on investments, but the scheme which he ran has now gone bankrupt amid spiraling money problems.
Creditors for McIndoe are now trying to claim back some of the money via demand letters, with millions of pounds looking to be recouped.
