Glasgow Rangers and three Championship sides are lining up a loan swoop for Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worrall, according to The Daily Record.

Nottingham Forest are likely to allow Worrall to leave on a temporary basis with Rangers considering a move for him.

Aston Villa, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion are also in the hunt for the youngster.

Worrall is down the pecking order this season at Nottingham Forest, despite being a regular at the start of last year.

Aitor Karanka prefers the likes of Michael Dawson, Tobias Figueiredo, Michael Hefele and Danny Fox at the back so he will allow Worrall a temporary move.

The England under-21 international is also a target for Steven Gerrard at Rangers, who have been looking for a centre-half for a while.

Rangers have tried to sign Millwall defender Jake Cooper this summer and now they have turned their attention to Worrall.

The 21-year-old already has over 50 games for the Reds to his name, despite his young age, but he last featured in March.

The Verdict

Nottingham Forest should loan him out to aid his development but he still should be in their long-term plans.

At 21, he is likely to make mistakes and he still has the potential to become a top centre-half.

At Aston Villa, Stoke and West Brom, he would probably be a back-up so if it is not a loan-to-buy, Nottingham Forest should favour sending him to Rangers, especially as the three Championship sides are promotion rivals too.
