Aston Villa fans will certainly be looking forward to playing their game against Wolves this weekend once the international break is over.

For sure, it's going to be a big game at Molineux between two sides who will feel as though they can challenge for the title this season but not before some of the Villa players take centre stage in Wales vs Ireland tonight.

The two nations still have hopes of a play-off place for the World Cup next summer and the likes of Glenn Whelan, Neil Taylor and James Chester could all feature for their respective nation.

And, ahead of the clash in Cardiff tonight, Whelan has revealed that he has been winding the Welsh pair up via text with some pretty brutal stuff.

Indeed, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail, the Irish midfielder said:

“We haven’t said too much about the games other than a bit of banter.

“When I left Tayls and Chessie, I just wished them that I hope they have shockers!"

Certainly, there's been some banter flying about before the game but it's bound to get serious now as we head towards kick-off.

Both countries will probably have taken being offered a chance to play for a play-off spot in the final game and now it remains to be seen who can handle the pressure most in what will be a top atmosphere.

The Verdict

It'll be interesting to see how the Aston Villa team-mates get on after this game with at least one of them going to be disappointed come 10 pm tonight.

Whilst it's unlikely there's going to be any problems in terms of them getting on back at club level, Villa fans will hope the hangover of disappointment doesn't impact their game against Wolves.
