Aston Villa left-back Neil Taylor believes that the current squad Steve Bruce has assembled have proven they’ve got what it takes to stand up to the demands of the Championship.
Many fans feared that long-term injuries to John Terry and Jonathan Kodjia would seriously derail any hope the side had of competing at the top, however Villa have since collected ten points from their previous four games. And, they will be expecting to record a third consecutive home win when they welcome Millwall tomorrow.
Speaking to the official site, the Welsh international reckons that run without the key duo proves Vill have quality waiting to come in. “The main thing is that we’ve got a 25-man squad full of individuals who can step straight into this team.”
“Hopefully that’s going to be the difference with regard to promotion this year. We’ve proved it in the last few weeks with John Terry, Jonathan Kodjia and now Mile Jedinak being out for lengthy periods. The key is that it doesn’t weaken to the point we can’t win games when people fall out of it.”
You have to give huge credit to Steve Bruce and his players for the way they have handled the loss of two significant players.
The team are displaying a real determination and resilience and the results are coming too.
Whilst some fans may still disagree with Taylor’s assessment, as they will expect numbers to be added in January, his comments show the confidence that exists within the group and that can only be a good thing ahead of this busy run.
