As quoted by Aston Villa's Twitter account, defender James Chester has delivered his verdict on Harry Kane being made England captain for tonight's fixture against Slovenia.

Aston Villa are going along nicely in the Championship at the moment and will certainly be hoping that they get in the Premier League before too long.

And, on a personal level, Chester will be hoping he can get to the top flight too so he can earn more Wales call-ups in the future.

In the meantime, though, he was asked about the decision by England manager Gareth Southgate to make Kane the skipper tonight and he seems to have given it the thumbs up:

For sure, Chester knows what it's like to be around top captains with John Terry coming into the side this season for Villa and Kane will be looking to try and emulate his kind of leadership on the pitch tonight.

For Chester, though, the main concern will be trying to help Wales to qualify for the World Cup over the coming games with a huge tie against the Republic of Ireland looking like some kind of decider right now.

The Verdict

Kane might well turn out to be a great captain for England but, though Chester has praised him, it surely won't be of too much concern to him if he isn't.

Indeed, Chester will be focused on Wales most of all in these coming days and Villa fans will hope to see him perform well and stay injury free.
