Bristol City are competing with Middlesbrough for Albert Adomah this summer, as the Sky Bet Championship rivals look to lure the winger out of Aston Villa.

A report in the Birmingham Mail has been looking at the possibility of Adomah leaving Villa Park amid the club’s financial crisis, highlighting Bristol City and Boro as two clubs interested in swopping to sign the winger.

Adomah has had spells with both Bristol City and Boro earlier in his career, with the latter the club that sold him to Aston Villa back in the summer of 2016.

Both are now interested in re-signing the 30-year-old winger, who has two years left on his deal with Villa, this summer, as they look to bolster their squads ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

Over the last 12 months, Adomah has shone at Villa Park, with the winger featuring in 42 Championship fixtures last season, scoring 14 goals and assisting a further five to help Steve Bruce’s side into promotion contention.

Adomah helped Villa to fourth and past Boro in the play-off semi-finals, however, Bruce’s side were not able to secure a Premier League return, with Fulham beating them 1-0 at Wembley.

Failure to win promotion has left Villa in a vulnerable state, with Bristol City and Boro amongst their Championship rivals looking to swoop and sign the club’s top goalscorer.

The Verdict

Adomah was excellent last season, with the winger really stepping up for Villa at times.

He’d be a good addition to most Championship sides, including Boro and Bristol City.

It remains to be seen if either are successful in their attempt to lure the winger out of Villa Park, as there is little chance that Steve Bruce will be happy to watch the 30-year-old depart.
