Steve Bruce is preparing his Aston Villa squad for a third consecutive year in the Sky Bet Championship, after failure to win promotion back to the Premier League last season.
It’s no secret that money is tight at Villa Park, with Bruce working with limited funds.
One place he needs to strengthen is his goalkeeping department, with Sam Johnstone, first choice for the last 18 months, not returning.
Bruce needs to be looking for a new goalkeeper, and one place he could begin his search is Molineux, where he could tempt John Ruddy back into the Championship.
Last season, Ruddy was Wolves’ No.1, helping Nuno Santo’s side to promotion.
However, Rui Patricio has been signed, whilst Will Norris offers an option for the future.

It’s unlikely that 31-year-old Ruddy will get much game time next season, and whilst Villa might not be able to sign him permanently, they could offer the ex-England goalkeeper a loan move to the Championship, with the guarantee of regular football.
It’s going to be a huge summer of rebuilding for Bruce at Villa Park.
Building needs to begin at the back, with a goalkeeper an necessity this summer.
Bringing a player of Ruddy’s ability on board would be a statement and would certainly cushion the blow of losing Johnstone.
