Aston Villa should rival Premier League, Serie A and Bundesliga clubs for 21-goal forward

With Jonathan Kodjia set to miss the start of next season with a broken ankle and Scott Hogan yet to fully find his feet in the West Midlands, Steve Bruce might be tempted to sign another striker in the summer.

Jonathan Kodjia was the undoubted star for the Villains last year, bagging 19 league goals to fire them to the safety of mid-table after a wobbly start to life in the second tier.

After his multi-million pound January deadline day move from Brentford, Hogan only managed one goal for Aston Villa.

Therefore, Steve Bruce will be assessing the market for any possible forward additions.

One wildcard signing he could try to attempt would be Pieros Sotiriou of APOEL Nicosia.

Sotiriou is the second top scorer in the Cypriot First Division (behind Englishman Matt Derbyshire) and his top performances have caught the eye.

The 24-year-old is wanted by Premier League duo Southampton and Everton.

As well as this, Borussia Monchengladbach, Borussia Dortmund and Torino are chasing the 6’1” striker.

If Aston Villa could secure him ahead of these rival clubs, then Sotiriou could be the man to fire them back to the Premier League.

The Cyprus international is hot property and has Europa League and Champions League experience under his belt already in his career.

Olympiakos and AEK Athens are also keen and a £2.1m bid has reportedly been tabled for Pieros Sotiriou.

At that price, the Cypriot attacker would be a no-brainer for Aston Villa as they search for a goal scorer to fire them to success in the second tier.
