Aston Villa look set for an interesting summer on and off the field, as owner Tony Xia seeks to sell the club or at least balance the books.

It is widely expected that the club will indeed move on a few players in the summer, with the likes of Jack Grealish, James Chester, and Scott Hogan all players who could attract potential buyers.

One player already out the door is experienced defender John Terry, and manager Steve Bruce will know that he needs to go about replacing the former Chelsea man or risk leaving big hole in his back four come the opening day of the campaign.

However, we at FLW think a perfect replacement is already plying his trade in England in Barnsley defender Liam Lindsay, who massively impressed for the Tykes last term despite seeing his club drop back into League One.

The 22-year-old was superb for the Reds and arguably the standout player of the campaign. Composed, strong in the tackle, and deceptively good with the ball, Lindsay has bags of room for improvement and would surely relish a move to a club the size of Villa.

Barnsley have a rich history of developing and then selling on defenders, such as John Stones and Alfie Mawson, and Lindsay could well be the next in line to follow suit.

Villa fans, what do you think to this? Would Lindsay be a good signing? Let us know in the comments!
