Villa are on the up of late, going on a four game unbeaten run and they have pulled themselves well clear of the relegation zone.

With Steve Bruce at the helm, Villa have started to play better football and he seems to be getting the best out of some of the fringe players at the club.

Villa have one of the strongest squads in the league on paper and they will be well equipped for a promotion chase, should Bruce manage to get Villa up there.

Steve Bruce's arrival has coincided with the emergence of Nathan Baker, who has established himself as a regular in the absence of Tommy Elphick, and the Villa captain could only make the bench on Sunday when he returns.

There is a similar case with Gary Gardner, who has risen to prominence under Bruce after being mainly used as a bit-part player by di Matteo.

Villa are in a position of strength that enables them to sign from Premier League teams due to having "big club" status and plenty of money to spend.

One team they could sign from is Liverpool; they have several fringe players who could look for a loan exit from Anfield.

Here, I will look at two players who Villa should sign from Liverpool...

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Energetic right back Trent Alexander-Arnold is seen as future first-team member at Anfield, so Jurgen Klopp could send him out on loan to let him gain some valuable experience.

Steve Bruce has been starting Alan Hutton at right back of late, but coming to the back end of his career, replacing him with some youthful exuberance could be a good thing for Villa.

Villa currently have a few options at right back, with Adomah and Bacuna also able to play there, but signing Alexander-Arnold would enable both to focus on playing wide midfield.

Sheyi Ojo

The skillful winger has found it very difficult to break into the first team at Liverpool with talented players such as Philippe Coutinho, Roberto Firmino, Adam Lallana and Sadio Mane occupying the regular attacking midfield spots.

Sheyi Ojo has had two loan spells and after impressing for Wolves last year Liverpool could look to loan him out again in January.

Villa have options out wide but Ojo offers something different to the others: he can go past the opposition full back with ease and deliver balls into the box, whilst also being a goal threat.

Bruce will be looking for attacking reinforcements in January as he looks to push Villa towards the play-offs and creativity out wide is one of the keys to success in the Championship.

Aston Villa fans - what do you think? Would these two be good additions? What could they offer the team in January?
