Following Villa's underwhelming first season back in the Championship finishing 13th, Villa boss Steve Bruce seriously needs to think who he can bring to his side, to help them return back to the Premier League.

One issue that Villa suffered from last campaign, was a lack of creativity in midfield, which inevitably led to a general lack of goals throughout the full teams, as only Jonathan Kodjia was able to get over five league goals.

Current Burnley midfielder George Boyd, who is valued at £3.4m on transfermarkt, could bring the creativity that Steve Bruce's side is desperate for.

The former Scotland international, is generally deployed as a winger, being used on the left flank the majority of his career, which gives him the opportunity to play 'in the hole' giving himself a lot of time on the ball, which Villa would benefit from as allowing Boyd time on the ball creates nothing but goals, especially at Championship level.

Although, Boyd has a willingness to play anywhere across the midfield, with his versatility across attacking positions being his main strong point.

Additionally, the winger is also known for his dangerous left-foot, in which the majority of his goals are scored with.

However, he is also very comfortable on his right-foot meaning he's hardly ever put in hard decisions, and can easily recover.

Boyd, who is also out of contract this summer at Turf Moor, and not looking likely to sign a contract extension, if Villa show their interest as early as possible, Boyd may be attracted to Villa Park and may end the speculation of a contract renewal at Burnley early.

The 31-year-old would surely be given crucial first team player status at Villa Park, which may persuade him to move, as well as Villa's eagerness to return to the Premiership, giving Boyd another opportunity to play in England's top division.
