Aston Villa have shared a video of forward Andre Green training alone in the gym on Twitter, as the youngster continues his recovery from injury.

The 19-year-old has minor surgery on a leg injury sustained in Villa’s game against Brentford at Villa Park, and could remain sidelined for some weeks yet.

The young star broke into the first team in 2016, but his electric start to the new campaign had seen the player earn a number of plaudits from those associated with the club.

The winger scored once in four starts before being sidelined by injury, and appears to have a bright future under manager Steve Bruce.

The former Manchester United defender has provided Aston Villa’s young guns with a number of opportunities this semester, with the likes of Green, Keinan Davis and Callum O’Hare all impressing during appearances for the first team.

The Verdict

In the midst of a run of fine form, Green will have been devastated to have picked up a long-term injury against the Bees.

Images however of him back in the gym are an encouraging sign, and the winger will hope to be back in training sooner rather than later.

Bruce had placed great faith in Green during the early weeks of the new campaign, and the youngster should return to the first team squad upon his recovery.

The future look bright for Villa with a number of young stars emerging from the academy, and Bruce will continue to utilise the youngsters as the season progresses.
