Aston Villa share good player news that will please fans

Aston Villa were today handed a boost as Jack Grealish and Henri Lansbury were stepping up their returns from injury.

The pair will play for the under 23’s against Newcastle United tonight as they close in on a first-team return.

The club announced the news on Twitter this morning and the return of Grealish in particular will be a major boost for Steve Bruce.

Villa were held to a goalless draw in a poor Second City derby yesterday and certainly missed the creativity and skill of the talented youngster.

He hasn’t played a game this season since suffering a freak injury during a friendly against Watford and has been missed.

Bruce will also be pleased to see Lansbury return. The former Forest midfielder last played against Middlesbrough in September, where he was actually sent off.

He will provide Villa with more options in the centre of midfield where the team have been light in recent weeks with Mile Jedinak also out.

With Bruce’s men in action against Preston on Wednesday, it’s unlikely either will feature at Deepdale, particularly if they play the full 90 minutes tonight.

The Verdict

This is good news for Aston Villa fans. Lansbury and Grealish will certainly add something to the squad, especially Grealish.

Villa have struggled to create clear chances in recent weeks and the 22-year old will change that with his style of play and quality on the ball.

With a busy schedule from now until Christmas, Bruce will be delighted to have both players back as he will need to call on his big squad in the coming months.
