Aston Villa are set to make a "strong move" for FC Nurnberg midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri, according to The Express and Star.

Abdelhamid Sabiri is a summer transfer target for Huddersfield Town but Aston Villa are also very keen on the young star.

Huddersfield Town have made an enquiry over the availability of FC Nurnberg starlet Abdelhamid Sabiri ahead of a potential move, according to The Daily Mail.

But now the Premier League new boys face competition from Aston Villa, who have identified Sabiri as a top young talent.

The 20-year-old is already making a name for himself in Germany after scoring five goals in seven games in the Bundesliga 2 last season (the second tier of German football).

The young attacking midfielder's performances helped FC Nurnberg to a 12th place finish in the Bundesliga 2 but he was recently dropped for a pre-season match against Borussia Monchengladbach, further fuelling rumours of his exit.

Sabiri is reportedly keen on leaving FC Nurnberg this summer with a Premier League move appealing to him.

Huddersfield Town want to make him their tenth signing of the summer transfer window but now face a battle to sign him after Aston Villa entered the race.

The Moroccan midfielder could be added to Aston Villa's attacking ranks if Steve Bruce can convince him to move to the West Midlands rather than to Premier League outfit Huddersfield Town.

The Verdict

Abdelhamid Sabiri appears to be one of the best young talents around in Germany and he is keen on a move to England.

Whether Aston Villa can convince him to move to the Championship rather than the Premier League remains to be seen.

Perhaps the pull of a big club like Aston Villa might be tempting for the 20-year-old and he is likely to get more immediate game time in the second tier.

The Villains could do with another flair player in their attacking ranks and if Sabiri can adjust to life in England, this could prove to be a very shrewd long-term move for both parties.
