Championship promotion hopefuls Aston Villa are looking to sign Yeovil Town defender Tom James, according to a report in the Birmingham Mail.
The Villans are hoping to land the youngster regardless of if promotion is achieved or not, but they will reportedly face competition from Celtic, who are also keen on landing the 22-year-old.
James, who has been a mainstay of the Yeovil team this season, has been a key member of the squad at Huish Park ever since making a move to the club from Cardiff City last summer, where he had failed to nail down any first team opportunites.
However, his form for Yeovil has been hugely impressive, and he has been drawing admiring glances from plenty of clubs in the Championship, including the likes of Bristol City, but it is Villa and Steve Bruce who lead the chase for his signature at the moment.
James is likely to find it hard to turn down any sort of move to the Championship, but will also know that if Celtic make their move then resisting the Scottish champions could be difficult.
Villa fans, what do you think? Good signing? Let us know in the comments!
