Aston Villa have joined Brentford in the race to sign Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom, according to The Daily Mail.
Arsenal youngster Chuba Akpom is thought to be available for a half-season loan, until the end of the 2016/17 campaign.
Aston Villa look to have diverted their attention to Chuba Akpom after they dropped out of the race for Jordan Rhodes.
The report in the Mail also says that Ross McCormack could be set for a January exit so Villa are keen to get Akpom in.
With Jonathan Kodjia and Jordan Ayew at the African Cup of Nations, Aston Villa are after a new striker.
Brentford will rival the Villains for the loan services of the 21-year-old.
With Brentford anticipating losing Scott Hogan to West Ham, they have identified the England youth international as his replacement.
Akpom has previously had a loan spell at Brentford and was on loan at promotion winning Hull City last season.
