Aston Villa are expecting to have Albert Adomah back for Friday’s clash with West Bromwich Albion.

Adomah hobbled off during the Second City derby in November, with the winger’s problem ruling him out of the draw with Nottingham Forest and victory over Middlesbrough.

The Birmingham Mail have provided an update recently, confirming that Dean Smith is expecting to welcome the 30-year-old back into action for the crunch clash at the Hawthorns on Friday.

To add to that Alan Hutton will be available, with the Scot serving a one-match suspension in the 3-0 victory over Middlesbrough.

However, there wasn’t positive news on Henri Lansbury and Birkir Bjarnason, who are both expected to be sidelined and unavailable to Smith at the Hawthorns.

Smith’s side will head to West Brom full of confidence at the weekend, with Villa producing two very convincing away performances recently.

3-0 victories away to Derby County and Middlesbrough – two play-off rivals – have propelled Villa into serious top-six contention.

The Verdict

Villa will be full of confidence going up against West Brom, despite the talent that Darren Moore’s side possess.

The return of a player like Adomah, who was superb against Birmingham City in the Second City derby, is only going to boost them further.

Smith has real options in the wide areas now and Villa are benefitting from that. Their wing-play against Boro was superb at the weekend.
