Aston Villa set to offer Premier League boss a bumper deal following relegation

According to a Sun report, Aston Villa are plotting a move for Tony Pulis to take over the helm from fellow Midlands club, West Bromwich Albion.

After a disastrous season in the Premier League, which succumbed in relegation and no permanent manager in sight, Aston Villa have begun making preparations for the Championship.

A number of names have been linked with the vacancy including Nigel Pearson, however with a Chinese consortium looking to take over the club from Randy Lerner, Tony Pulis is the preferred choice.

Whether or not Pulis will drop down into the Championship when he has already secured Premier League football and become an established Premier League manager is a different question however with only one year left on his contract at West Brom, he could be persuaded and tempted to take on the difficult task that is Aston Villa.

With the experience of the Championship and gaining promotion from the Championship with Stoke City, it could be an astute move for Aston Villa to make.

However even with the arrival of Pulis, there is a lot of work to be done to make that squad one capable of fighting for promotion to bounce back to the Premier League.

Aston Villa fans, how do you feel about the news? Would you like to see Tony Pulis at the helm? Could his no nonsense back to basics style be just what Aston Villa wants? Or is there a manager you’d prefer instead of him? Let us hear your thoughts and opinions in the Comment section below!
