Aston Villa will make a decision on Ahmed Elmohamady tomorrow, as Steve Bruce continues to sweat over the defender’s fitness ahead of the play-off final.

Bruce’s side travel to Wembley on Saturday to face Fulham, with one of the two sides destined to join Wolves and Cardiff City back in the Premier League next season.

Elmohamady is a major injury doubt for Villa, having sat out the second-leg of the semi-final clash with Middlesbrough last week.

Bruce has confirmed to Villa’s official media (@AVFCOfficial) that the 30-year-old has been back in training over the last two days, but he remains a doubt.

Villa will make a final decision on Elmohamady tomorrow, as they finalise their plans to take on Fulham at Wembley.

Elmohamady has been a regular in Villa’s back-four this season, featuring on 44 occasions so far this season.

He, Alan Hutton, James Chester and John Terry have formed an impressive quartet ahead of Sam Johnstone, with Villa boasting one of best defensive records in the Championship over 46 fixtures.

James Bree was the man to deputise for Elmohamady against Middlesbrough in the second-leg, with the youngster the man Bruce could possibly to turn to if his Egyptian full-back loses his race to be fit.

The Verdict

Elmohamady has proved himself to be a key figure at Aston Villa this season, with the 30-year-old producing some impressive performances.

Bruce will be desperate to have his right-back available this weekend, not just for his ability, but also his experience.

Elmohamady has experienced this stage of the play-offs before and will be key on the field and in the dressing room.

James Bree did well against Middlesbrough, but Elmohamady’s presence would be a major boost.
